Rethink Good is a blog about life and looking at simple lifestyle changes through personal challenges. We can change the world, it’s just going to take a little time.
Personal me: My name is Jody Wissing. I live my life doing what most people call radical, although I don’t see it that way. My friends describe me as an activist of everything environmental and humanitarian. Some of my personal challenges include a year of no retail shopping and a year of downsizing, which ended up with the ultimate downsize… my house. As a seeker of anything artistic and fun, I love blogging, spending time with my two boys, enjoying adventures to find abandoned places and I like being the neighborhood mom that gives all the kids water guns filled with paint. My goals include making a difference in everything I do, teaching my boys in all of my crazy ways and ridding the world of beige.
Business me: I’m currently the Communications Director at Preston Trail Community Church. My job allows me to cultivate my passions for visual art, communications and thinking outside the box. I’m always looking to find the least expensive and most creative ways to do church marketing and design.
About rethink good:
Sometimes we miss the good stuff in search for the better stuff. Why? This doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t strive to be great and do great things. It means to live in the moment. We should take the time to stop and enjoy what we have, not spending all of our time looking for more or better.
History: I started this blog as trashsociety.com as a place to vent about our wasteful culture. It’s transitioned into a blog communicating many issues we all struggle with in our world of excess. I’m no different than anyone else, I’m just a little louder. 😉 I like to do experiments with life situations that initiate change and show that we just don’t need to keep up with the Jones’. Rethink Good was born out of an idea to create an awareness of simple lifestyle changes that will have a BIG ecological and humanitarian impact.I’ve been blogging for several years now and all of it is here on rethinkgood.com.
Mission: I suppose I do need to find a “one-sentence” statement to place here, but I just don’t have it. Let me give it a shot. My mission is to get people thinking about the good things in their lives, to take time to appreciate them and to live a more sustainable lifestyle based on the good things. Rethinking good means to look at our lives through the lens of being happy with what we have. If we’re not happy, do we really think it has anything to do with our financial success or how much stuff we have?
We can all make a difference. Small changes can really add up to make a BIG impact. Your actions are your voice. Make a choice to contribute a few small lifestyle changes to create a better world for all of us.

My favorite scriptures:
I suppose you could call these the foundation of Rethink Good.
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. — Romans 12:2 (NLT)
Everyone around was in awe—all those wonders and signs done through the apostles! And all the believers lived in a wonderful harmony, holding everything in common. They sold whatever they owned and pooled their resources so that each person’s need was met. — Acts 2:42-44 (MSG)
